Taipei, Sept. 19 – Taiwanese athletes made a remarkable impact at the 2024 Asian Cheerleading Championships, held in Bali, Indonesia, bringing home an impressive haul of six gold, five silver, and two bronze medals. The event, hosted by the International Cheer Union, showcased Taiwan’s dominance in categories such as Doubles Youth Pom, Doubles Youth Hip Hop, Doubles Youth Jazz, Doubles Junior Hip Hop, Doubles Junior Jazz, and Senior Coed Premier.
Peng Yi-Chen (彭怡甄), who clinched gold in the Doubles Youth Pom category, shared her joy and gratitude. “Wearing the national team uniform motivated me to follow my coach’s advice perfectly and strive for the gold medal,” said Peng, expressing her appreciation for her family’s unwavering support.

Chien Shih-Yun (簡詩芸), who won gold in the Hip-Hop Duo category, reflected on her journey at the championships. “After securing gold last year, I felt the pressure to defend my title. This pushed me to train even harder and reclaim a spot on the podium,” she said.
Pom Doubles coach Lu Hong (盧虹) praised the team’s focus and resilience, especially when competing against Indonesia’s formidable home team, which secured 10 gold medals. “The athletes wowed the judges with their performances, and I’m incredibly proud to have been part of this success,” said Lu.
National team coach and Keelung Cheer and Dance Secretary-General Fang Pin-Hsuan (方品璇) applauded the athletes for their solid foundation and rigorous training. She also highlighted their determination to deliver stellar performances despite the challenges of competing in intense sunshine at the outdoor venue.
Taiwan’s success at the championships reflects not only the athletes’ talent and dedication but also the strength of the country’s cheerleading program. Fans eagerly anticipate their future achievements on the international stage.
