LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky cheerleading team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) National Competition, finishing third in the Division IA Large Coed category. The finals were held on Sunday night at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Entering the finals in seventh place, the Wildcats showcased determination and skill, climbing the leaderboard with an exceptional routine on Sunday afternoon.
Innovative and Challenging Routine
“Our routine was the most challenging in the division, and I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished,” said UK head coach Ryan O’Connor. “We’re still the only team performing three full-twisting 1-1-1’s, and we were the first to execute four 1-1-1 pyramids in the Division IA category. It was innovative, exciting to watch, and technically demanding. While we can’t control the judges’ decisions, this routine deserves to be celebrated for its excellence and creativity.”
Top Performers in Division IA
The Division IA Coed competition saw Alabama claim the championship title, with South Florida securing second place. Kentucky’s third-place finish highlights its continued dominance in the cheerleading world, as the program has claimed an unmatched 24 national championships in its history.
The Wildcats’ performance at UCA Nationals once again reinforces their reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate cheerleading. Congratulations to the team for representing the University of Kentucky with skill, passion, and innovation!
