Understanding NFL Cheerleader Compensation: Insights Ahead of Super Bowl LIX

Less than a year since their establishment, the Wick High School Vikings cheerleading squad is preparing to participate in the upcoming Scottish Schools’ Cheerleading Association competition in South Lanarkshire. This opportunity arises just nine months after the team’s inception.
The squad, led by English teacher Kiri Robertson, comprises 20 students from first to sixth year, divided into a pompon team and a cheerleading team. Robertson, who has a background in cheerleading from her time at Edinburgh Napier University, was instrumental in reviving the cheerleading program at Wick High School.
“Many of our members were new to cheerleading,” Robertson noted. “Cheerleading encompasses various styles. All-star cheerleading is more competitive and involves complex stunts, making it more athletic and demanding. It’s akin to gymnastics, requiring significant strength, agility, and coordination.”
To support their activities, the Vikings organized a 12-hour danceathon at the Assembly Rooms in September, performing routines and stunts continuously. This event raised approximately £1500, which was allocated towards purchasing uniforms.
As they prepare for the national competition, the Vikings are dedicated to refining their routines and showcasing their athleticism and team spirit on a larger stage.
