Title: Old Quarry Middle School Cheerleaders Win Sixth Illinois State Cheer Championship
February 17, 2025The 2025 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship, held by the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA), has once again showcased the talent and passion of high school cheerleaders across the country. With over 27,000 athletes from 1,286 teams representing 34 states, this prestigious event is the pinnacle of cheerleading competitions for high school teams.

To qualify for the event, teams competed in regional competitions held across the country in 2024. Teams were evaluated in various categories, including stunting and tumbling skills, crowd leadership, and overall performance. The championship featured three main categories: Performance Routine, Game Day, and the newly introduced Game Day Live, where cheerleaders perform with their school’s band in a live setting. This unique addition provided an exciting new platform for teams to display their game day routines in front of a live audience.

A groundbreaking new division, the Pep Band Division, also crowned its first-ever champion at the 2025 event. This new division highlights the importance of pep bands in creating an unforgettable game-day atmosphere, further uniting cheerleaders, musicians, and fans in a collective celebration of school spirit.
