Parkers Chapel High School added another trophy to Union County’s growing list of cheerleading accolades on Saturday night. Competing at the Arkansas High School Cheerleading Championships held at Bank OZK Arena, the Lady Trojans secured the 1A-2A Game Day Division title with a score of 84.17, outperforming Gurdon (81.90). Hackett and Quitman completed the top four.
The Lady Trojans advanced to the finals after an impressive qualifying round, scoring 177.45.
“I am overwhelmed, to say the least,” said head coach Cindee Mason. “This team has been working tirelessly for six months to reach this point. Competing against 11 talented teams in such a tough division was no easy task. My team knew what was at stake and rose to the challenge in an extraordinary way. All gas and no brakes!”
Parkers Chapel excelled in the Crowd Leading and Band Chant categories, also earning the Overall Crowd Leading award. Their victory qualified them for the NCA National Competition in Dallas, set for next month.
Team Members
The team roster includes Maycie Taylor, Annabelle Ochs, Payton Bradley, Janelle Drummond, Kambrey Stegall, Chandler Boykin, Emma Claire Owens, Qua’lizabeth Junior, Kenlee Honeycutt, Audrey Robertson, E’Eliyah Mayweather, Aaliyah Kemp, Karley Koon, Emma Dees, Jade Stewart, Delaney Mason, Lily Robertson, Tinsley Barbaree, and Landon Black.
Coach Mason highlighted the dedication of the team’s senior members. Mason herself is a three-year letterman and captain, as well as a member of the 2022 state championship team. The other seniors—Drummond, Boykin, and Black—competed at state for the first time this year.
Mason also shared how “Bring a Guy to Practice Day” over the summer encouraged Landon Black and others to join the squad.
“Our previous success, including three consecutive state titles, combined with the drive to bounce back from our fifth-place finish in 2023, fueled the team’s determination this year,” she added.
Union County Shines at State Championships
Parkers Chapel’s victory was part of a dominant weekend for Union County. Junction City secured the 2A All-Girl Division title, while Smackover triumphed in the 3A division. Meanwhile, El Dorado High School achieved runner-up status in the 5A-6A category, further cementing Union County’s reputation as Arkansas’ cheerleading capital.
