Coral Springs Cheerleading Teams Shine at BCAA Championship, Other Sports Teams Gear Up for Postseason

January 16, 2025Springfield, Ill. — Southern Illinois cheerleading teams showcased their talent and spirit over the weekend at the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association (ICCA) Championships, bringing home multiple championships and accolades. The event, held at the Bank of Springfield Center, marked its 40th year of celebrating top cheerleading squads from across Illinois.
Top Performances from Southern Illinois Teams
The 2025 ICCA Championships drew fierce competition, but several Southern Illinois squads rose to the occasion, earning first-place finishes in their respective divisions.
Carterville Junior High School cemented its dominance in the Small Junior High Division, claiming the championship for the second consecutive year. Their back-to-back wins highlight their dedication and exceptional skills.
Another standout performance came from Mt. Vernon, whose cheerleading squad secured first place in the Junior Varsity Game Day Division. Their high-energy routine and flawless execution earned them top honors and solidified their reputation as a powerhouse in the cheerleading community.
